Photography was my first love.
It my sophomore year in high school that I learned that I had a gift.
I was always the kid with the Fun Saver 35mm camera, taking pictures everywhere I went. Somewhere between the fact that we didn’t have many family photos growing up, and harnessing the power to make shapes and colors move through the adjustment of a shutter, I found myself enamored with the camera.
Being a member of the newspaper staff in high school, I always found myself behind the camera every once in a while. It was never by choice. It was more of a “we need shots of the track meet, and you’re on the team, so…?”
I found myself having more fun taking photos, and capturing moments. I started getting good. I was a natural. I enrolled in the Photography I course, and never looked back. Taking photos were effortless; I just needed to learn how to create the photos that I was seeing in my mind.
Not only did Dr. Coyle teach us valuable information like structure, line, shape, form, and rule of thirds, but he also taught us how to develop our own film in a dark room, make subjects move with aperture, and most importantly - Be completely free behind the camera.
I will always consider myself to be a professional in this craft, however the demands of creativity leaves me challenging myself to balance all of my creative outlets.
I’m currently working on a documentary of sorts, and a few different calendars and journals for creatives.
